TENNESSEE MOSQUE LAWSUIT-
The power of hatred.
By: SIDDIQ KONNEH
29 September, 2010
The growing
resentment and hatred
against muslims by few
conceited islamophobic
Americans is going out of
proportion. America is a
free country where people
should be allowed to worship
without fear or panic, with
the exclusion of Muslims,
now it seems. There are now
lawsuits and social
uprisings specially
orchestrated to demonize and
portray Islam as the most
intolerant religion. The
most grievous account is
some self-centered
politicians and public
officials have joined the
raid.

America has been
known as a country with
enormous and infinite
opportunities for all. It is
still refer to as the land
of freedom and embrace; a
beacon of hope and a place
where dreams come true.
America is a country with
diverse and complex social
strata and countless of
faiths and nationalities.
Because our founding fathers
saw such huge diversity from
the onset, they proclaimed
freedom and equity as the

A fumble and a missed
opportunity in handling the
“pagan letter” issue.
By: Manyou Bility
27 September, 2010
The issue of
religion should be handled
in a sensitive manner void
of emotions. Religion is one
of the issues that control
one's inner soul directly.
If mishandled as evidenced
by the president's recent
revelation, emotions and
tensions are inflamed
culminating into religious
conflict. This is something
Liberia and Liberians can do
without. The issue of the so
called “pagan letter” has
the propensity of plunging
our country into serious
problems.

PRINCE YANCY JOHNSON, An
Anatomy of a political
Demagogue
By: SIDDIQ KONNEH
27 September, 2010
Liberia,
a country with less than
three million people and a
vast natural resources to
feed more than four million
people, depends on aid from
donors around the world to
feed its people. How
possible could this be? This
is the question most of us
ask on a daily basis. And it
becomes frustrating to
realize that war has become
the only methodology for
Liberians in solvng their
problems. Warlords who
started these conflicts are
left with impunitive and
some have gone as far as
becoming prominent stake
holders in the nation, like
Prince Y Johnson.

TWO SO-CALLED LIBERIAN
MUSLIM YOUTH LEADERS MAKING
SENSELESS COMMENTS:
By: SIDDIQ
KONNEH,
26 September, 2010
I was in Houston
Texas, USA, listening to
star radio online when I
heard two so-called
Liberian- muslim youth
leaders making sensely
comments and calling on the
Grand- Mufti of Liberia,
Sheik Morris Sumaworo to
step down effective
immediately. I thought I was
dreaming, but it was a
reality. These two buffoons
emanating from the lunatic
fringe, with no conscious,
publicly incriminated and
demonized the man who was
imprisoned because of his
stance on issues that
affected Muslims in Liberia.
I wonder if these two
so-called muslim youths
actually represent the true
aspirations and hopes of
muslim students in Liberia?

one described as a “protest

blessed month of Ramadan has
come and gone. Today while
celebrating our
achievements, our spiritual
victories, we must stop to
review some of the most
important lessons we have or
should have learned from
this exercise.
The spiritual regimen of
fasting, vigils, recitations
and devotions were meant to
inculcate in us a true sense
of spiritual identity. It
was primarily meant to teach
us who we really are; why we
are here in this world; and
where we go from here.

THE POWER OF AN EDUCATED

It
was John Sloan who put it
brilliantly for us that “the
real challenge ahead is one
of making the most efficient
use of our resources, and
not the least of these
resources is our intelligent
youth.” The sustainability
of any great nation,
community, institution, or
group of people lies within
the adequate preparation of
its future custodians – the
promising youth. As history
has proven over the years,
Liberian Mandingoes are just
as productive, brilliant,
hardworking, economically
enriched, politically savvy,
and developmentally upright
as other Liberians. By all
standards, we have proudly
seen Liberian Mandingo
students meritoriously
ranked among the crème de la
crème - securing various
listings of primary and
secondary schools, as well
as colleges and universities
- for their academic
excellence and exemplary
leadership displays.
