Orgtema President, Mohammed S.
Kamara Takes On New Responsibility
July 02, 2009
By: staff writer, Mandingo Nations

The Liberian Community Association (D/FW) and Diaspora elected new corps
of officers on Saturday, June 27, 2009, in Dallas, Texas. Those elected
were Ms. Lorena Travell president, and Mr. Mohammed S. Kamara
vice president. Prior, Mr.Kamara had been heading the technical
department of the organization, including managing its website. Mr.
Kamara’s election as vice president came as a surprise to many,
considering his commitment and enormous responsibilities to the
Sanniquille Mosque Project and the Organization of Texas Mandingo
(Orgtema). What’s even more astonishing is Mr. Kamara’s decision to
contest LCA’s VP post at the time when most of his kinsmen are pursuing
positions within a national tribal organization (Felmausa).
The vice president elect, Mr. Kamara is expected to resign orgtema’s
Presidency in 21 days.
Below is election commissioner's declaration:
Fellow Liberians,
I'm pleased to announce that the Liberian Community Association (DFW)
had its
Presidential Election on June 27,2009. Ms. Lorena Travell emerged as
president-elect, with Mr. Mohammed Kamara as Vice president.
Inauguration of the newly elected officers will take place after the
Liberian
Independence Day celebration (July 26). More information on this later.
We congratulate the officers and look forward to see them work hard to
build a
united community for the common good of all Liberians in the DFW area.
Mean
while, let's work together to build bridges in our community, not walls;
for in
unity, strong success is sure.
Thank you.
Dr. John S. David
LCA Election Commissioner
