Islamic Prosperity Mosque Dedicated in
Jacob’s Town Courtesy: Public Agenda News 27 February,2010 The
Muslims in Jacob Town who constructed for the community a new Mosque,
have now officially dedicated the building to the service of the one
true God of the universe. During the occasion on Friday February 19,
2010, several Muslims from other parts of the city joined their
colleagues, assembled at the mosque and listened to the sermon delivered
by the Imam on that auspicious occasion. Among those who graced the
comprised both the prominent and ordinary people within the Muslim
community. The sermon of the Friday congregational prayer was reportedly delivered by Imam Farmah who, following Islamic precedent began the sermon thus: ‘Praise be to Allah Who united the hearts of the believers. Lord! Unite our hearts. May Peace and blessings be unto the distinguished Prophet, Muhammad the truthful and trustworthy messenger to the white and black; and unto his honorable companions, the Islamic flag bearers, and all those who imitate and follow their path till Judgment Day!’ Focusing on the unity of Muslims in his sermon, the Imam implored his audience to fear Allah and obey His call for unity which, he said, can increase the community’s strength, lifts up its standards, multiplies its fortune, puts love between its members and makes them to prosper. According to report, Imam Farmah also informed the congregation about Allah’s warning against dispute or disunity which, he said, spoils the Muslim’s ranks, takes away their strength, brings humiliation to them, empowers wrong doers or oppressors against them, decreases their faith, and puts sectionalism between them. More besides, the Muslim clergy reminded his listeners that Allah has urged them to enter Islam fully, or be complete Muslims. ‘Islamic brotherhood,’ he emphasized, ‘is the brotherhood of believers. If you are proud to call yourself Believers, Allah has asked: Why do you say what you do not do? Why do you not demonstrate in your life the true attributes of believers?’ The Imam, in his sermon, maintained that the Prophet (PBH) has said faith was the key to the gate of paradise, while mutual love was the key to faith, and to exchange Islamic greeting and visitation were the formula to cultivate mutual love among Muslims. He said that mutual assistance is regrettably lacking, though it is the best attribute of believers. The Prophet (PBH), according to the Imam, has made mutual love and assistance the very essence of faith when he (PBH) reportedly said: ‘One has not attained faith until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.’ He said that the prophet even created brotherhood between the Muslim immigrants from Mecca and citizens of Medina that the latter would prefer the former to him/her self. He said Liberia’s Muslims were in dire need of such exemplary conduct. ‘Let these pieces of guidance make Muslim leaders, educators and wealthy Muslims to be honest to their fellow Muslims,’ he said. Meanwhile, the Imam has emphasized that Islam could not have survived the hostility and enmity of the pagans in the early and difficult days if Muslims were not united. It can be recalled that the mosque in question had its first Friday congregational assembly reported by this paper. The occasion on last Friday was a continuation and climax of the first one. |
