Kenneh responds
to Quardu Gboni Board Chairman, Mr.Vamadu Sheriff's Baseless Article
By: Sekou Kenneh
August 28, 2009
Thank
you for responding to my recent article on Quardu Gboni. Mandingo unity
is very important to all of us. First of all, for the benefit of you and
our distinguished readers, I encourage you to go back and reread my
"message of unity". I think that will help you better understand the
article that you are trying to distort. Your mischaracterization of me
in your response suggests to me that you didn't read the article
yourself or if you did you didn't comprehend its contents. Therefore, I
propose if for any reason that you're unable to differentiate between
the definition of SUGGESTION and DEMAND, please revisit your lexicon,
encyclopedia or thesaurus.

DEMOCRACY,
JEALOUSY OR HYPOCRISY ???
By: Sekou Kenneh-Opinion Leader MN.
August 27, 2009
Ladies
and Gentlemen of the noble Mandingo community. I urge you once again to
take a moment out of your busy schedules and ask yourselves these few
questions:
Why don't we appreciate our Leaders regardless of their achievements ?
Does hypocrisy and petty Jealousy help or hurt our Community ?
Where are we headed ?
If we can find an honest answer to any of the above questions, then we
will be able to eradicate most of the ills in our community.
First, we need to desist from the habits of spreading misinformation and
making ungrateful comments about our leaders under the pretext of the
so-called "Democracy or Free Speech.”

Guinea Military Ruler May Run for President
Courtesy: VOA
August 26, 2009
Guinea's
military ruler may run for president in elections that he has postponed
until next year. When Army Captain Moussa Camara took power in a coup
last December, he told Guineans that no one in his ruling council would
stand as a candidate in elections to follow because the military had no
wish to cling to power.
Nine months later, that ruling council now says it is up to voters to
choose their leaders without discrimination or internal or external
pressure. A statement read on national television said any member of the
ruling council or any other citizen "is free to put forward their
candidacy for the national election if they so desire."

Mali
protest against women's law
Courtesy: BBC
August 25, 2009
Tens
of thousands of people in Mali's capital, Bamako, have been protesting
against a new law which gives women equal rights in marriage.
The law, passed earlier this month, also strengthens inheritance rights
for women and children born out of wedlock.
The head of a Muslim women's association says only a minority of Malian
women - "the intellectuals" as she put it - supports the law.
Several other protests have taken place in other parts of the country.
The law was adopted by the Malian parliament at the beginning of August,
and has yet to be signed into force by the president.

I Pledge
Allegiance to the flag of Liberia
By Mameita Sirleaf
August 23,2009
The
Liberian flag bears close resemblance to the flag of the United States
of America. This shows the ex-American slave origins of the United
States. The Liberian flag has similar red and white stripes to the
United States Flag as well as the dark blue square with a white star in
the upper left corner.
The United States (US) Flag has fifty (50) stars that represent the 50
states of the United States as compares to one star in the Liberian
Flag. The US Flag has thirteen (13) stripes that represent the thirteen
original states of the US. The Liberian Flag has eleven (11) stripes.
These eleven stripes symbolize the signatories of the Liberian
Declaration of independence.

By: Nvasekie N. Konneh

Saturday, August 16, 2009 on Woodland Avenue in Philadelphia, Ansumana
Jabateh was the guest at the forum organized by the Independent
Intellectual Forum of Philadelphia. He did not come with any prepared
script. So he was at liberty to say whatever was on his mind. For some
people, this was an opportunity for Ansumana Jabateh to clarify the
controversial remark he is quoted to have made sometime ago. That is to
say he’s not “in favor of Mandingo unity.” For all those who wanted this
clarification from him, they were disappointed that he kept repeating
the same phrase throughout his deliberation.

THE NEED FOR
MANDINGO UNITY-my personal advice to the Mandingo Community!
By: Sekou Kenneh
August 16, 2009
With
my deepest honor and respect, I would like to speak to you about the Dos
and Don’ts of our ethnicity. I am referring to what we should or should
not do as Mandingoes.
Let me first start with what we should do. We should always be in the
position to defend, protect and preserve our Values, Dignities and
Respects.
Those are the most important legacies that we inherited from our
forefathers. So, we can't afford to lose any of them no matter where we
go. Therefore it is imperative for us to know that the only weapon we
need for our fight is unity.
Now here are things that you should not do: DO NOT DIVIDE YOURSELVES!
